Digital marketing is the part of internet marketing that uses digital technology like mobile phones, desktop computers and other digital media like social media and web based platforms. In simple terms, digital marketing involves using digital tools to create awareness, promote and sell products and services on the internet. In other words, digital marketing is about using digital tools to capture, transmit and manage information in today’s digitalized world. I show them how to increase their revenue and how to build down lines.


A digital marketer has the ability to help you with all of these strategies and many more. The reason why digital marketers use digital channels is because they will be able to track your results in real time. This allows marketers to see where they are excelling, where they are not maximizing their efforts, and where they need to improve. All this and more can be accomplished through tracking software. Brand awareness and high conversion rates are key and that is what a digital marketer is looking to achieve with their clients.


The best digital marketers know the importance of channels, and how they fit into your overall strategy. Digital channels can include social media, RSS feeds, directories, blogs, white papers, videos, and more. A marketer should have a plan in place before jumping into any channel; it needs to be tested and refined until it works. Once a digital channel is integrated into your overall strategy it becomes the most important part.


Digital Marketers are typically hired on a yearly basis with an annual salary and benefits. The annual salary is directly tied to the skill set of the marketer and the company they work for. For instance, if the marketer is extremely skillful they could earn upwards of $400K annually; however, most companies only pay out around half of that. Marketers that have a combination of skills can command higher salaries. Companies who want to retain marketers that have a combination of skills and experience will usually offer a better compensation package.


Another important trait for a marketer is knowledge of keyword research. Many digital marketers start out focusing solely on search engine optimization, or SEO. However, keyword research is just as important, if not more important, than SEO. It will allow a marketer to understand how to target the proper audience for the right product or service.


A digital marketer will not always focus 100% on SEO, however, they will dedicate some time every day to the Google AdWords and PPC campaigns. The reason why PPC is so lucrative is because there are so many people who use this service. This service has become very crowded so it is important for marketers to get in on the action. A digital marketer can start out by building a small website and optimizing it for the search engines. As their internet skills and knowledge grows they can add more content to the site and increase their earning power.
